Are cortical inhibitory neurons adjusting their cellular properties to local circuits?
Omar Valerio Minero
It is known that inhibitory neurons integrate into cortical circuits following the arrival of excitatory neurons.
Generate new insights from existing neurophysiology data through secondary analysis.
NeuroDataReHack 2024 was the first installment held at HHMI Janelia Research Campus, which has hosted the program every summer since. Twenty participants from 16 institutions completed 18 projects over five days, spanning surface-based parcellation of high-resolution imaging data, neural state space modeling of decision-making data, cross-species comparisons of hippocampal sequence dynamics, and early experiments with pre-training foundation models on NWB data.
Before the workshop, the virtual Open Neurodata Showcase let registrants meet the contributors behind the neurophysiology datasets on DANDI and explore virtual posters. Search API tutorials from this year are in the program GitHub repository.

Talks from 2024 were not published as recordings. Slides are available in the shared folder. The event report summarizes the program and projects.

“The Hackathon was an incredible experience. I had the opportunity to get familiar with not only NWB but also the expanding NWB ecosystem. Additionally, the week was fantastic for connecting with others working on similar topics. I established potential collaborations and learned from people working on different topics as well.”
“NeuroDataReHack 2024 is an inspiring tour of the ecosystem that NWB and DANDI have supported, including a set of useful tools, datasets, and example notebooks to work with. Great opportunities to meet the organizers who make those things happen, and to connect with other researchers interested in dataset reuse.”
“This workshop was enlightening, and I'm excited to bring these tools back to my research group and my university!”
